As the Wheels and Waves Festival in Biarritz, France enters its fifth year, BMW has, once more, discharged an idea bicycle in view of the R nineT. A year ago, a scrambler-ized R nineT, named Concept Path 22 after the trail to one of Europe's most well known surf spots, highlighted a custom paint by visual craftsman Ornamental Conifer. For 2016, BMW chose to look to the marque's Paris-Dakar cruisers to make the BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose.

"Since it was initially presented available, the BMW R nineT has turned into a well known bicycle for customizers and finishers as can be seen at Wheels and Waves. This makes us extremely glad and impelled us on to make something unique for this celebration, something nobody has seen from us yet", says Edgard Heinrich, Head of Design at BMW Motorrad clarifying the foundation of the idea bicycle. "The BMW Motorrad Concept Lac Rose is our laid-back and exceptionally singular translation of the bicycle that won the Paris-Dakar Rallye in 1985 – completely in accordance with the soul of Wheels and Waves and its guests. It puts the BMW R nineT into an energizing new setting and shows what enthusiasm for our image legacy, creative ability and a couple of adjustments can accomplish."

The name Lac Rose is taken from the French name of the rose-hued Retba salt lake, beside the Atlantic coast around 22 miles upper east of Dakar where the Paris-Dakar rally finished up after its difficult trek over the African mainland. Here, BMW processing plant Boxers, altered by the organization HPN, remained at the highest point of the platform three times in succession in the mid–1980s, with Gaston Rahier taking the third win in 1985.

Wearing Rahier's 101 race number, the R nineT got the rally treatment of the period. From the windscreen to the round headlamp and larger than average tank down to the long-travel suspension, high bumpers, rough terrain tires, and short rally situate, the accentuation was on giving this advanced cruiser the lines of a fanciful period of BMW GS apparatus. The red on snow capped white shading blend had a place with the race number and, actually, were incorporated – just like the multi-hued tubular casing. The majority of the adjustments underscore the capacity required of a race machine as confirm by the accident bars and case protect. Indeed, even the restrictive BMW riding gear attach into the outline/shading plan with the protective cap highlighting the 101 race number.

Essentially the bike is a cool and laid-back roadster with a few typical off-road features which allow you to leave the street and follow a dirt track into the unknown”, says Edgar Heinrich. “It is this combination of customizing, coolness and unconventionality which make this bike so special.”
